Overview: As Risk and Controls Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of the BAU "Risk and Controls" services identified as part of the wider Office of the Chief Operations Officer offering. You will assist the Head of Operational Risk, Resilience and Governance to implement incremental changes requested by the business or prescribed by regulation. You will also work closely with the Operational Resilience and Business Continuity Manager to ensure that services align.
Job Purpose: Day to day contact and SME for the "Risk and Controls" capability as defined within the Office of the COO Structure and Service model. This is a 1st line function focussing on improving risks and controls within the Operations reporting line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monthly reviews of risks belonging to Operations Leadership team including writing commentary, taking minutes, and following up on actions.
- Testing of Operations internal controls.
- Support the Operations Leadership team in developing and improving controls in local Risk Registers.
- Work with Operations Communication and Reporting Lead to report on the Operations risk and control environment (risks, controls, issues, incidents, risk acceptances, policy acceptances etc).
- Oversee Operations audit remediation actions forum.
- Help embed robust operational risk practices and culture.
- Foster positive and collaborative relationships across the three lines of defence.
- Work with reporting lead to produce meaningful management information in relation to Operations risk and controls and audit remediation actions.
Performance Objectives:
- Completion of Operations Risk and Control assessments.
- Oversee Audit Remediation Actions forum.
- Provide high quality Risk and Control Management Information.
Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
- Minimum of 5 years' risk and control experience in a regulated environment.
- Experience with risk governance meetings / committees, and collating data and writing supporting commentary.
- Experience with Risk and Controls Self Assessment, control testing, and issue and action management.
- You're resilient and comfortable working in a diverse and fast paced team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience within the insurance industry.
- Knowledge of SS1/21, SS2/21 and DORA.
