We are seeking a highly capable and commercially minded People Strategy & Operations Specialist to act as a trusted partner and operational lead to the Chief People Officer. This is a high-impact role sitting at the centre of the People function, responsible for driving strategic initiatives, coordinating cross-functional priorities, and ensuring the successful execution of key People programmes across the organisation.
Operating in a fast-paced, regulated financial services environment, this individual will combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery. The successful candidate will bring structure, pace, and clarity to complex initiatives, produce high-quality executive materials and insights, and help ensure the People agenda is aligned to broader business priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Partner closely with the Chief People Officer to drive execution of the People strategy and key functional priorities.
- Coordinate strategic HR and business-critical projects across areas such as HR Business Partnering, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Payroll & benefits.
- Develop high-quality executive presentations, board materials, briefing papers, dashboards, and communications for senior stakeholders.
- Establish and manage governance processes, project plans, reporting cadences, and action tracking to ensure delivery against agreed objectives and timelines.
- Support the prioritisation and coordination of activity across the People function, ensuring alignment, accountability, and visibility of progress.
- Analyse workforce, operational, and organisational data to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Prepare briefing materials and support the CPO in executive meetings, leadership forums, and strategic planning discussions.
- Monitor external market trends, regulatory developments, and best practice across financial services and insurance to inform People initiatives and recommendations.
- Act as a highly trusted and confidential advisor within the function, demonstrating sound judgement, discretion, and professionalism at all times.
- Proven experience in HR Strategy / Business Management, Chief of Staff, Consulting, or a similar strategic operations role within financial services, insurance, or another complex regulated environment.
- Strong project and programme management capability, with experience coordinating multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce polished executive-level presentations and materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into clear recommendations and actions.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders across functions and levels.
- Commercially minded with an understanding of organisational dynamics and the strategic role of HR within a business.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; comfortable working with HR metrics, reporting, and dashboards.
- Experience supporting C-suite or Executive Committee leaders directly.
- Background in management consulting, transformation, organisational change, or strategic workforce planning.
- Experience within the Lloyd’s, specialty insurance, or broader insurance market.
- Familiarity with HR technologies (Workday), people analytics tools, and process improvement methodologies.
