Job Purpose
This role is responsible for supporting accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery across our international offices during a period of transformation.
It helps ensure smooth payroll operations for a diverse workforce, in line with local legislation, company policies and global standards.
With a focus on continuous improvement, future readiness and AI transformation, the specialist will help develop and adopt payroll processes, systems and governance that support greater automation, better data insight and an improved employee experience.
Working with internal stakeholders, external providers and cross-functional teams, the specialist will contribute to a resilient, scalable payroll function that supports business growth, regulatory change, evolving workforce needs and the adoption of AI-enabled ways of working across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- The role will manage an assigned portfolio of countries, with flexibility to support other countries as required.
- Keep up to date with payroll legislation in relevant jurisdictions and changes to maintain compliance.
- Work with external payroll providers and internal teams, including HR, Finance and Legal, to support smooth payroll delivery and resolve issues.
- Support the onboarding of new countries or entities into the payroll framework, including system setup, testing and process documentation.
- Identify and implement improvements that streamline payroll processes, reduce manual work and support digital transformation.
- Maintain accurate, complete and secure payroll data to support internal controls and audit requirements.
- Produce regular and ad hoc payroll reports and insights to support compliance, financial planning and decision-making.
- Contribute to payroll projects, including system upgrades, policy harmonisation and future ways of working.
- Act as a key contact for payroll queries, providing timely, professional and empathetic support to employees across the region.
Skills and Experience Specification
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing end-to-end payroll across multiple European jurisdictions, including knowledge of local collective bargaining agreements.
- Strong understanding of statutory requirements, tax regulations and social security systems in relevant countries.
- Excellent communication skills, with a professional and reliable approach to work delivery.
- Proven ability to manage and work effectively with external payroll providers, ensuring service quality and compliance.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Sound problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess options and make well-judged decisions.
- Proactive approach, with the ability to identify and suggest process improvements.
- Strong teamworking skills, with the ability to work independently when required.
- Good Excel and reporting skills.
Desirable
- Experience of using Workday HCM
- Experience of working in the Insurance or Financial Services sector
