As a Head of Parametric Weather Insurance – UK & Europe, you will be part of a multifaceted team in a rapidly growing field, with an opportunity to contribute to business growth locally and globally. You are an expert in parametric risk transfer products with a focus on non-catastrophic parametric weather insurance structures. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the go-to-market activities for the team in Europe. You will drive commercial development and strategic partnerships in Europe, promoting innovative risk transfer solutions to corporations, public sector organisations, and intermediaries. The role is focused on client acquisition, relationship management, market intelligence, and the development of tailored parametric solutions for emerging risks.

Missions and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other distribution channels, focusing on the London and European Insurance markets to develop and enhance deal origination opportunities.
  • Lead market growth for parametric insurance products across Europe, targeting industries including agriculture, energy, retail, and public sector clients.
  • Understand clients’ needs across various industries, develop targets, identify risks and develop parametric solutions.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of all available parametric products and solutions, focusing on weather and forced outage risks, to educate clients on the pros and cons of these alternative risk finance options.
  • Actively originate, analyse, and assess parametric climate insurance submissions from clients and brokers.
  • Manage submissions from clients and brokers and coordinate with internal teams, including Underwriting and Operations, to ensure timely and efficient processing.
  • Drive global business expansion by gaining access and opening doors, with a particular focus on insurance companies and brokers.
  • While the focus of this role is on Europe, support parametric team members globally with client-focused marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal team to optimise technology platforms and workflows, assisting with new product development and engaging to develop strategic roadmaps.

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

  • Expert in parametric risk transfer products with a focus on non-catastrophic parametric weather insurance structures.
  • Proven experience in driving commercial development and strategic partnerships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in math/science, finance, insurance or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience, preferably working in the re/insurance industry as a broker or underwriter.
  • Experience with parametric solutions or a closely related field, with a technical background.

Desired:

  • Excellent understanding of the regional insurance landscape; parametric or specialty insurance experience.
  • Fluency in French, Spanish, or German.
