Job Purpose: To make up a 3-person Professional Indemnity claims team based in Bristol (alongside an underwriting team) which in itself is part of a larger team based in London and South Wales. There will be regular visits to and inclusion in London-based activities. You will be dealing with claims under primary risks written 100% by the company across a broad variety of professions. The successful candidate will join with an appropriate authority within the team, handling medium and high value complex cases whilst reporting within the appropriate structure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing information onto the claims system (Guidewire).
- Identifying relevant facts, documents and formulating appropriate requests for information.
- Handling claims within your authority.
- Drafting appropriate case summaries; strategies and Large Loss Reports.
- Instructing Panel lawyers and handling accordingly.
- Setting case reserves in line with our philosophy.
- Corresponding and conversing with brokers, insureds and third parties.
- Attending meetings and mediations with third parties.
- Attending team meetings monthly.
- Apprising and meeting with reinsurers where necessary.
Performance Objectives:
- To be able to manage case load to a very high standard achieving optimal outcomes.
- To draw on skills and experience to negotiate those outcomes whilst maintaining strong relationships with our brokers and policyholders.
- To work effectively as a member of a highly motivated, experienced and technically proficient team that works closely together and with underwriters: sharing knowledge and experience to provide the best service and product.
Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
- At least 3-5 years’ experience handling Professional Indemnity claims.
- Full / partial ACII qualification or relevant degree.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Packages (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- A working knowledge of insurance law and interpretation of policy terms and conditions.
- Ability to handle in excess of 100 primary single insurer claims / notifications.
Desirable:
- Experience of construction, accountants, IT and media claims.
