The Finance Change Team provides expertise, management, and coordination of the Finance portfolio of change, supporting Finance and the Business in achieving its strategic objectives. The Core Finance Business Analyst will be responsible for documenting the functional & non-functional requirements of the Finance Function with respect to, primarily, Pega (and other core finance applications), ensuring that the users\’ needs are accurately and articulately documented and understood by the development team(s). The Core Finance Business Analyst will work closely with product owners, architects and engineering delivery leads to ensure solutions meet business needs.
Job Purpose
Working within the Finance Change function, bridging the gap between the finance department and IT by analysing business needs within financial systems, identifying areas for improvement, designing solutions, and collaborating with technical teams to implement changes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and efficient system operations across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements gathering: Understand current finance processes, identify pain points, and document functional requirements for system enhancements or new features.
- System analysis: Evaluate existing finance systems, analyse data flows, and identify potential areas for optimisation.
- Solution design: Collaborate with stakeholders and solution architects to design system solutions that align with business needs, including process mapping, workflow design, and data integration.
- Implementation support: Work with IT teams to implement new system features, configure settings, and manage data migration. Assist with the creation of test documentation including UAT.
- User training: Developing and delivering training materials to end users on new system functionalities and updates.
- Reporting and analysis: Create reports and dashboards to monitor system performance and identify trends, providing insights for decision-making.
Performance Objectives
- Requirements and Analysis: Understand finance processes, identify pain points, document requirements through user stories, and evaluate existing systems for optimisation.
- Solution Design and Implementation: Collaborate with stakeholders and solution architects to design system solutions, work with IT to implement new features, configure settings, and manage data migration.
- Training, Support, and Reporting: Develop and deliver training, troubleshoot system issues, provide user support, and create reports and dashboards to monitor system performance and provide insights.
Skills and Experience Specification
Essential:
- Financial acumen: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and key financial metrics.
- Business analysis skills: Proficiency in requirement gathering, writing user stories, process mapping, data analysis, and solution design.
- Technical knowledge: Familiarity with finance systems (ERP, workflow, payment, treasury, consolidation & reporting systems), data manipulation tools, and basic programming skills.
- Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stakeholder management: Building strong relationships with finance users, architects, data experts, IT teams, and business leaders to ensure project alignment.
Desirable:
- Experience with the following tools: Pega, Payment solutions (e.g. Bottomline (cards & DD)), Tagetik, Peoplesoft ERP and other General Ledger/ERPs, Anaplan
- Experience working within the insurance industry
- Experience using Azure Dev Ops and similar tools
- Experience and qualifications in Agile / Scrum methodology
