Job Purpose: Manage the Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting Team to ensure the accurate and timely production of all Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting which are compliant with regulatory requirements; Review forecast Syndicate class of business results – understanding and communicating any variances to plan to internal stakeholders including p rovid ing forward looking insight on the impact of new Lloyd’s regulatory and reporting requirements; Lead the team’s transformation of Syndicate reporting – including liaising with the BI team and development of an enhanced DataMart to automate Syndicate reporting, allowing focus on analysis, understanding and communication of business performance of Syndicate classes of business and other key metrics; Develop the Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting Team, embedding a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Manage the Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting Team processes and deliverables; Manage the compilation of syndicate reporting in line with Lloyd’s reporting timetable; Ensure timely preparation specifically GQD, QMA, QMB, PMDr, Trust Funds, TRIA, NAIC, US SIS, CAN SIS and DD returns for GAAP, signed and Forecast results for submission to Lloyd’s; Manage and present returns to internal & external stakeholders, communicating key messages for review as part of the TM HCC governance process; Timetable management to support wider finance team deliverables; Oversight of key syndicate controls, including reconciliation of technical accounts and non- technical accounts; Preparation of quarterly syndicate underwriting results; Compilation of syndicate management accounts for preparation of year end statutory accounts, notes and reviews; Manage and prepare analytical review and commentary of business performance and position by class for management and the monthly CFO report under both UK GAAP and US GAAP; Manage relationships and information provided to support the annual and half yearly audit process on a timely basis; Ensure all syndicate UK GAAP entries are posted to the General Ledger for the Syndicate on a quarterly basis and US GAAP results are in line with expectations; Liaison with senior management as well as with external parties, auditors and Lloyd’s in respect of queries raised on returns; Syndicate forecasts Review forecast Syndicate class of business results and understand and communicate any variances to plan to internal stakeholders including providing forward looking insight into the impact of such changes. Ensure Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting remains compliant with regulatory developments; Keep up-to-date with changes to regulatory reporting requirements for the Lloyd’s Syndicate and; assess impact of changes on capital requirements and to reporting requirements and ensure that systems and processes are changed where required. Drive the Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting Team’s transformation and ensure continuous improvement; Liaise with the BI team and develop an enhanced DataMart to automate Syndicate reporting, allowing focus on analysis, understanding and communication of business performance of Syndicate classes of business and other key metrics; Embed a continuous improvement approach – identifying and implementing improvements in reporting process paying particular attention to reconciliation and governance controls with the objective of reducing risk of errors and improving the speed and efficiency of reporting; Contribute to the wider finance and business change initiatives by identifying areas for improvement, performing data quality checks and reconciling data; Support and deliver Legal Entity Reporting projects to ensure that they meet defined objectives and are delivered on time. Manage and develop the Lloyd’s Syndicate Reporting Team Supervision and development of two Syndicate Reporting Accountants; Define objectives for the Lloyd’s Reporting team in line with Legal Entity Reporting team goals; Provide support to and knowledge sharing within the team; Use a collaborative approach when working with others; Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and ‘end to end process’ thinking. Other ad-hoc tasks as necessary Support the Head of Legal Entity Reporting and wider Finance department on strategic projects as required. Skills and Experience Specification: Essential Experience and knowledge of Lloyd’s Insurance accounting; Strong practical accounting skills, especially UK GAAP and US GAAP; Advanced skills in MS Office applications, especially Excel Experience of managing a small team; Experience of implementing and maintaining an effective controls framework; Attention to detail and strong planning and organisational skills Excellent problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally General commercial and financial knowledge Solution focused with a methodical approach to problem solving and decision making; In-depth understanding of the London Insurance Market from both a Lloyd’s and Company Market perspective; The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise; and Strong people and communication skills. Desirable Experience of managing and implementing change into finance functions including system changes; General Ledger: PeopleSoft; and Experience of producing financial reports and presenting to management.
