Job Purpose

Act as a key person in the Reinsurance Operation team and be accountable for leading all month end activity ensuring all technical balances are verified and correct to allow for an efficient month end close. The role will also include taking ownership of a suite of XOL treaty placements that includes premium processing and claim recoveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with all internal stakeholders in the month end process, predominantly colleagues in finance.
  • Ensure the month end close process is completed in the given timeframes and all data/transactions are captured by XLPro, and fed correctly downstream to the ledgers.
  • Understand and create reinsurance contracts in outwards systems.
  • Initiate settlement of reinsurance premium to broker and carrier with credit control team.
  • Identification and calculation of reinsurance recoveries within reinsurance systems including reconciliations to Finance outputs.
  • Submit accurate and timely statements, advices and collection notes to brokers and reinsurers.

Essential Skills and Experience Specification

  • Experience, knowledge of the Insurance/Reinsurance Market from a Lloyd’s, Company or broker market perspective.
  • Experience with month end processes and budget & forecasting.
  • Confident, articulate and experienced in dealing with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Customer focus and service mentality.
  • Focus on execution and timely delivery of quality outputs.
  • Self-motivated, can-do attitude and pro-active mindset.
  • Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability and confidence to challenge existing procedures & use of system.
  • Strong computer skills - knowledge of Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and MS PowerPoint.
