Reporting to: Head of Claims / Director of Underwriting and Operations

Direct Reports: 4

Hybrid working: 3 days per week in a TMHCC office with at least 1 of those days based at our head office in Rearsby, Leicestershire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of claims technicians handling claims from Trade Credit Insurance policies.
  • Ensure prompt turnaround of all claims and queries.
  • Provide technical input into investigation, negotiation, and settlement of claims.
  • Carry out claim inspections at client’s premises.
  • Liaise with brokers and support claims issues.
  • Collate information on potential losses for accurate reserving.
  • Authorize claim reserves and payments.
  • Report losses to reinsurers and verify reinsurance calculations.
  • Monitor and report on open claims.
  • Perform month-end reporting and reconciliations.
  • Manage relationships with external debt collectors and lawyers.
  • Instruct lawyers and manage cases.
  • Pursue recovery options including retention of title claims and dividend payments from insolvencies.
  • Liaise with insolvency practitioners and attend creditors meetings.
  • Conduct broker training and meetings.
  • Develop and implement departmental procedures.
  • Train, develop, and support team members.
  • Assist with recruitment and resourcing.
  • Suggest improvements to computer systems and assist with testing.
  • Attend internal meetings and take minutes as required.
  • Perform other duties as required by senior management.

  • Manage the Trade Credit Insurance claims team effectively.
  • Ensure efficient claims handling and excellent service.
  • Report monthly and quarterly claims positions.
  • Reserve claims promptly and accurately.
  • Report large losses in line with company policy.
  • Report losses to reinsurers and verify calculations.
  • Manage relationships with third parties like debt collectors.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in law or business, or Member of CICM.
  • At least 5 years in Credit Insurance or credit management.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving drive.
  • Negotiation skills and customer service excellence.
  • Commercial awareness and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Stakeholder management skills.

Previous experience in insurance or Trade Credit Insurance is not essential, as training will be provided.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in banking, debt collection, or credit management.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of financial analysis and contract law.
  • Experience with insolvency and handling credit insurance policies.
