Job Purpose
To handle a caseload of commercial and domestic property claims, including limited exposure to Employers and Public Liability claims. Allocate accurate reserves and, where appropriate, settle claims within handling authorities on a timely, equitable and commercial basis. Develop skills and improve service and quality standards. This is a customer‑facing role.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle insurance claims, primarily Property Claims involving technical decisions
- Manage a caseload of claims from a desktop level, showing effective organisation
- Oversee caseload/customer management from start to finish
- Make effective and prompt decisions regarding policy cover
- Communicate decisions clearly over the phone and in written form
- Maintain accurate file reserves
- Ensure customers are treated fairly and in accordance with FCA Guidelines
- Provide claims support and expertise for underwriting queries, interpreting and applying policy coverage
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience working with domestic and commercial insurance claims, involving decision making
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Previous phone and written based customer service experience
- Ability to meet specific deadlines and manage workloads
- A committed and flexible approach, taking accountability for own actions
- Good attention to detail and understanding of the importance of accurate and thorough data capture
- Providing support, technical knowledge and acting as a referral point
Desirable
- Progression towards ACII
- Experience dealing with large complex claims
- Experience managing and handling referrals from Delegated Authorities
