Job Purpose
To provide underwriting support in the implementation of the business plan to ensure growth and profitability of the account to the Specialty Group, with specific focus on the A&H side of the business. This role would be suitable for an Underwriting Assistant looking for the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- General support to the Underwriters within the team
- Perform specific risk, market and broker research for renewals and business development
- Assist marketing and preparation for broker meetings / visits
- Broker correspondence/liaison
- Generate and process quotes. Creation of contracts, binders and wordings
- Ensure all policies written are contract certain and compliant with relevant regulations
- Manage risks processed via the electronic placing platform
- Visit other offices where needed
- Liaise with claims team for claims
- Identify key performance trends and produce detailed reporting
- Ad hoc tasks and projects including AI and Power BI
Performance Objectives
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and follow the TMHCC underwriting approach
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders such as brokers and claims team
- Be the first point of contact for the majority of broker queries
- Demonstrate the ability to handle a challenging workload
Essential – Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years working in insurance as an Underwriting Assistant or in a similar role
- London Market Experience
- Degree level education ideally in Business or Economics
- Planning and organisational skills
- A high level of IT literacy, including Word and Excel
- Ability to organize workload and priorities and work to deadlines
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work well within a team and build strong relationships with colleagues and clients
- Willingness to learn and work proactively
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Desirable
- Relevant insurance qualification or willingness to work towards qualifications
- Interest in gaining medical knowledge relevant to the role
