Overview
TE Magnetics (TEM) is a commercial unit within Tokamak Energy focused on commercialising our magnet technologies. We are ushering in the HTS era.
We recognise we are in our infancy in establishing an HTS business, but we are ambitious with big plans to grow fast and make a global impact. We are seeking a passionate BD Analyst to support our HTS magnet BD and development activities. This role is key in supporting the development of our next great technologies and shaping them into products that make an impact.
Reporting to the SVP of BD & Sales, the role lead and support the business development team in identifying, assessing, and executing growth opportunities in a deep technology environment. The role combines market research, competitive intelligence, and financial/technical analysis to inform strategic decisions. The analyst develops business cases, supports partnership and customer engagement activities, and prepares materials for senior stakeholders. By bridging technical insights with commercial strategy, they help drive adoption of breakthrough technologies and enable long-term growth.
- Monitor and communicate emerging market trends relevant to our high-temperature superconducting magnet technology and analyse their implications for the Company\βs commercial strategy.
- Research and identify new business opportunities for our intellectual property β including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services β or new ways of reaching existing markets.
- Undertake market intelligence gathering and present original insights to the team and wider company on topics and themes relevant to the Company strategy.
- Cultivate relationships with partner organisations, industry stakeholders and external companies and maintain visibility of and access to emerging industry trends and sentiment. This may include travelling to attend conferences, participating in industry events, participating in (and organising) meetings and workshops with partners and stakeholders.
- Support the team to develop and present high quality business propositions by providing original insights on relevant market dynamics, competitive landscape, policy and regulatory trends, and financial and investor sentiment.
As a key member of the Business Development Team, you will also:
- Support the Business Development Manager in developing and delivering the overarching business development and commercial strategy.
- Support the Business Development Manager to ensure all internal approvals and supporting papers are prepared which enable progression of prospective and live opportunities.
- Work with colleagues to ensure overall delivery of the identified commercial opportunities to meet the requirements of the business.
- Work with the wider Business Development team to develop and share best practices
Experience
- Experience in communicating complex information and ideas effectively and accurately β both verbally, through compelling presentations and in writing β in English.
- Experience developing business plans and commercial strategies for entry to new markets with novel, engineering-based technologies.
- Highly organised and a strong, pro-active communicator, with the ability to manage relationships with internal senior and external stakeholders.
- Undergraduate degree minimum (a preference for a degree in business, economics, engineering, sciences)
- 1-2 years relevant working experience in business development, research or consulting
- Solid business acumen, commercial capabilities and business judgement
- Strong numerical skills
- Flexible, curious, and able to propose innovative ideas.
- Problem solving β able to take a creative and hypothesis-driven approach in order to solve complex problems.
- Team player, open and positive in a group dynamic
- Driven, hard-working, entrepreneurial, proactive and productive.
- Salary dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset
