Job Description

As an Operational Trainer, you will play a key role in supporting the onboarding and development of new colleagues across our Operations teams.

This role ensures that new recruits gain the technical knowledge and skillsrequiredto achieve competence and thrive in their roles, using a blended approach aligned to the 70:20:10 learning model: practical on-the-job experience, learning through others, and targeted formal training.

Youwill also contribute to the design and delivery of colleague academiesand the overarching Together framework, supporting cohort-based recruitment and development.

Additionally, the role willmonitorthe success of new recruits and provide feedback to improve future recruitment and training strategies.

As an Operational Trainer, we are looking for someone to

  • Deliver engaging and effective onboardingprogrammesfor new colleagues
  • Ensure new recruits understand business processes, systems, and compliance requirements
  • Support individuals in achieving role competence within agreedtimeframes
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Risk, Central Talent and Development, HR, recruitment, operationsand business stakeholders, to design and run colleague academies that align to the overarching Together framework
  • Deliver structured trainingprogrammesto cohort groups, ensuring formal learning is reinforced through workplace application, coaching, feedbackand peer learning in line with the 70:20:10 model
  • Continuously improvecontent based on feedback, businessneedsand strategic priorities, avoiding disconnected local solutions or β€œcottage industries”
  • Track progress and performance of new recruits during onboarding and academy phases
  • Identifydevelopment needs and provide coaching oradditionalsupport whererequired
  • Provide insights and feedback to the recruitment team to enhance future hiring decisions
  • Work closely with team leaders, HR, and recruitment to align training with business goals
  • Act as a point of contact for training-related queries and support
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes
  • Support colleagues to design and develop learning that contributes to a consistent Together framework, ensuring local activity connects to the wider strategy rather than creating standalone approaches

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in training delivery, ideally within financial services or a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of onboarding processes and adult learning principles
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to analyseperformance data and provide actionable feedback
  • Experience designing training materials and programmes
  • Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to apply the 70:20:10 model when designing learning journeys, balancing experiential, social and formal learning activities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across Risk, Central Talent and Development and business teams tomaintainalignment with the wider learning strategy
  • CIPD Level 3 or above in Learning & Development (or equivalent)
  • Experience with LMS platforms and digital learning tools
  • Coaching or mentoring qualifications
