As a Senior Group Finance Manager you will play a pivotal role leading the Financial Control team, which is currently made up of 8 people who are a mix of qualified and training accountants. The team is responsible for the accurate and timely production of P&L and B/S month end reporting, including assistance with the production of complex financial disclosure notes and control schedules. You will play a significant role in the oversight of the above ensuring that all information produced is done so in line with the Financial Control Framework that the role holder will also have responsible for.

Further to this, a key part of the role is providing technical support to the team for complex areas of accounting that includes the Group’s interest rate swap portfolio, its expected credit losses (ECL) and also its special purpose funding vehicles. While prior knowledge in any of these specific areas would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. Experience with complex areas of accounting is however fundamental to ensure the role holder can get up to speed quickly.

Stakeholder management is key and the role holder will be responsible for developing and nurturing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including within Group Finance, and other teams across the business. These relationships will help with the role holder’s responsibility for playing a key part in shaping the future of Financial Control team beyond just smaller day to day process improvements.

The role requires a high level of technical knowledge, as well as the ability to refer to accounting standards to seek answers and reference in documentation.

As a Senior Group Finance Manager we are looking for someone to:

  • Lead the Financial Control Team responsible for preparation of accurate Month End Reporting for the Group and its subsidiaries
  • Ensure accuracy of the preparation of detailed balance sheet analyses and accompanying MI
  • Be responsible for the provision of required information to internal and external auditors
  • Be responsible for information and assistance provided to all other areas of the business
  • Be responsible for end to end accounting for the Group’s growing interest rate swap portfolio
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with the Group Financial Control Framework
  • Manage teams and development
  • Provide accounting advice and technical accounting papers as required
  • Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, such as divisional finance and external auditors
  • Be responsible for accounting for Special Purpose Debt Vehicles
  • Manage IFRS 9 expected credit loss processes and controls
  • Be responsible for on-going scrutiny of processes to ensure maximisation of efficiencies and controls

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive technical accounting experience
  • Previous experience in communicating and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of GL accounting systems, cashbook and purchase ledger systems
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to identify requirements and appropriate solutions
  • Moderate computer Skills, reasonable experience in excel and Microsoft office suite
  • Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCA/ACA (equivalent)
