Job Description

As an Assistant Accountant, you will provide rigorous financial management of service charges, utilities, council tax and business rates of our properties within the group.

As an Assistant Accountant, we are looking for someone to:

  • Establish and maintain a process for managing property service charges that is compliant with RICS, ARMA, and leasehold regulations
  • Work closely with property managers to prepare service charge budgets and provide accurate financial reporting
  • Produce year-end service charge accounts and liaise with auditors as required
  • Establish and maintain process for management and recharge of utility costs, council tax, business rates and ground rents
  • Mitigation of vacant property holding costs
  • Prepare service charge payments, arrears reports and reconciliations
  • Handle client queries related to service charges, invoicing, and leaseholder accounts

Qualifications

  • Experience in service charge accounting within a property environment
  • Strong knowledge of service charge regulations and leasehold accounting
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft packages, including Word, Advanced Excel and Outlook
  • Proficiency in Propman accounting software is preferred
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounts
  • Good communication skills to liaise with property managers, tenants, leaseholders, and external stakeholders
  • A relevant accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA), or qualified by experience
