Elva Court provides compassionate support to individuals experiencing complex mental health issues, driven by an enthusiastic, professional staff team dedicated to providing person‑centred care, with support tailored to and developed with an individual encompassing all aspects of wellbeing including mental, physical, spiritual and daily living skills. Our goal is to increase independence and feelings of accomplishment and assist people to move on to more independent living. The service is run in collaboration with service users, encouraging feedback and involvement in all areas of decision making. Elva Court is a supported accommodation service based in the heart of Sidley on the outskirts of Bexhill. The service accommodates 13 service users, each in their own flat. The service is staffed 24 hours with one staff member sleeping in overnight, for which an additional allowance is paid.
We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of caring or supporting people with mental health issues to work alongside residents, putting them at the heart of all we do. A willingness to be flexible with different shift patterns which may occasionally include sleep‑in shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Support residents to reach their individual goals and aspirations, both one‑to‑one and in group activities.
- Assist in the day‑to‑day running of the service.
- Contribute to teamwork and staff activities.
- Engage in a variety of tasks that provide fulfilment and variety.
- Perform domestic tasks with service users as required.
- Assist with welfare benefits and other support services.
- Maintain a safe and trusting environment.
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping and reporting in English.
- Prepare for and attend necessary training sessions for professional development.
- Non‑judgemental and empathetic attitude toward service users.
- Ability to work alongside individuals experiencing mental distress and in partnership with service users.
- Establish and maintain professional boundaries and a safe environment.
- Problem‑solving skills relating to welfare benefits, education and relationships.
- Willingness to participate in formal and informal job‑related learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other organisations.
- Use email and computerised systems for service user records.
- Produce clear records and reports in English.

- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Minimum GCSE or Level II qualification in English or equivalent.
- Basic competence in email and word processing software.
- Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals from paid or voluntary work.
- NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care or equivalent (desirable).
- Lived experience of mental distress (desirable).
- DBS clearance (enhanced required).
- Ability to travel and work varying shift patterns.
