Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide a caring, safe, secure, and accepting environment that meets the physical, health, social needs, and rights of young people. Support less experienced staff through positive and effective team working to achieve high standards of care set by the Registered Manager on behalf of the Trust. Respect and promote the individual needs of each young person, considering their racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
  2. Assist with needs assessments and the formulation of care plans. Collaborate with other agencies and consider the wishes and feelings of the young people, their parents, and those with parental responsibility, in accordance with relevant legislation.
  3. Support educational opportunities and achievements for young people by helping identify and establish educational provisions and contributing to reviews.
  4. Develop awareness of child protection issues, assess and record risks, and refer concerns to the Registered Manager. Incorporate boundary setting into daily practice to prevent and manage challenging behavior effectively.
  5. Maintain accurate records of work with young people and prepare reports for planning meetings and statutory reviews, in consultation with the line manager, ensuring standards meet professional service aims.
  6. Undertake domestic duties, including cooking and cleaning, to maintain health and safety policies and guidelines for young people and staff.
  7. Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people under your responsibility.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good standard of written and spoken English.
  • QCF (NVQ Level 3) in Health and Social Care (CCYP) or equivalent, or willingness to achieve within specified timescales.
  • Experience working in a residential setting, performing duties in a well-planned manner that respects and values young people as individuals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write detailed reports.
  • Understanding of issues affecting young people and experience working with them.
