We are seeking a Night Care Worker to join one of our supported living services in Blackrod, Bolton. We aim to provide care and support and promote independence and inclusion within the local community through methods including positive behaviour support. We aim to empower the individuals we support to take control of their own lives and gain greater independence, by teaching communication, choice and fulfilment.

Location – Blackrod, Bolton.

Salary – £13,173.33 (£1,098.78 per month) – Living Wage

Enhancement - Time and a quarter at weekends and hours worked during the week between 11pm and 6am.

Hours per week – 20 hours per week. Each shift is 10 hours worked flexibly over 2 days of the week, including weekends. Additional shifts are available but not guaranteed.

As a Night Care Worker, you will work as part of a supported living team providing support for an adult male with autism and severe learning disabilities and epilepsy. The core tasks will include attending to the needs of the service user during the night, along with domestic duties and appropriate record keeping in accordance with legislation and regulation. Another member of staff will sleep in the unit and can be disturbed if there is an emergency.

The post holder will be expected to attend staff meetings, supervision, and annual appraisals, as well as attending the Trust’s training courses and those provided in-house, together with a willingness to undertake an appropriate level QCF programme, including working the occasional day shifts to gather the relevant evidence to support the qualification. This role requires Lone Working.

Working on your own initiative and as part of a team, you will be assisting the service user to fulfil the aims of their person-centred plan. You will support the service user with communication and work closely in a team that has a passion to improve their lives whilst in our care.

Do you have the skills we are looking for?

  • An ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
  • You must have a good understanding of English and IT skills and be happy to complete all the paperwork and care plans to a good quality, which includes daily recording on IT systems and other records such as incident reports.
  • Competence in administering medication and simple medical procedures for the young people as appropriate, and a willingness to undertake training if required.
  • Take responsibility for the security and maintenance of the house/unit during the night, including housekeeping duties as required and utilising the sleep-in member of staff or on-call manager as required.
