Job Description
As a Risk and Assurance Manager, you will support the Business Assurance Director in delivering a robust risk and assurance framework. You'll play a hands-on role in risk management, incident management, data quality and assurance activity. You will have the responsibility for identifying, assessing, and ensuring timely resolution of risk issues, including direct intervention if required. The business is responsible for managing their own risks, but you will provide targeted support where necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute towards the ongoing development of the risk management framework, including the maintenance and periodic review of policies, procedures and process maps
- Challenge and support risk owners to identify, assess and manage risks well, ensuring risks and controls are clearly documented on Risk and Control self assessments
- Deliver assurance reviews to test adherence to procedures and the effectiveness of key controls, identify exceptions and monitor suitable fixes
- Lead incident management: capture events, identify root causes, track corrective actions and report trends to management
- Perform focused data quality checks to identify and remediate issues across lending, servicing and operational datasets
- Help prepare clear, insightful risk and assurance reporting for management and governance forums, including dashboards, control updates and key risk indicators
- Summarise findings / lessons learned and input into feedback sessions
- Promote a proactive and transparent risk culture whilst promoting continuous improvement
Qualifications
Essential:
- Strong background in operational risk / assurance / audit
- Experience identifying risks and controls, completing control testing, updating RCSA's, managing incidents and documenting procedures
- Ability to influence, challenge and communicate effectively at all levels, including senior stakeholders
- Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and produce meaningful insights
- Highly organised, detail‐orientated and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Desirable:
- Understanding of mortgage lending and asset‐backed securitisation
- Relevant professional qualifications
- Knowledge of credit risk processes, underwriting, collections and portfolio monitoring
