Working within Together Learning Trust’s Finance team is a varied, enjoyable and worthwhile job. We are seeking to expand our finance team to include an Apprentice Finance Assistant. The role would suit someone who is passionate about finance and eager to start or progress their career within a school finance environment.
Wage: £15,392 to £24,454.04, depending on your age. National Minimum Wage: From £13,675 (£8.00 per hour) up to £18,546 (£10.85 per hour) dependent on level and experience.
Hours: Monday - Friday. 37 hours per week during term time, plus 10 days (40 weeks). Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm.
Duration: 1 year
What you’ll do at work:
- Efficiently and accurately process financial transactions
- Take responsibility for incoming postage/deliveries
- Respond in a professional manner to supplier enquiries
- Input accurate financial data into the finance system
- Document management and administration
- Other general support to the wider central team as directed
- Work towards a full AAT qualification
- Occasional work in other schools across the Trust as the role develops (travel costs covered)

Training:
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Record transactional data.
Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting End-Point Assessment (EPA)
Requirements:
- GCSE in Maths (grade 4)
- GCSE in IT (grade 4)
- Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
