We are looking for a reliable, organised, and detail-oriented Decontamination Assistant to join our friendly dental practice.

This is an important role within our practice, helping to ensure that our clinicians and patients benefit from a safe, clean, and compliant clinical environment.

Working behind the scenes, you will play a key part in maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention and control while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Whether you have previous decontamination experience or are looking to begin a career in dentistry, we would love to hear from you.

Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Decontamination Assistant, you will

  • Clean, disinfect, sterilise, and package dental instruments in accordance with HTM 01-05 guidance and practice protocols.
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment, including washer disinfectors and autoclaves.
  • Carry out routine testing and record keeping to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and replenish instrument stock, ensuring surgeries have the equipment they need.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant decontamination area.
  • Dispose of clinical waste safely and in line with current regulations.
  • Support the wider practice team in maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control.
  • Report any equipment faults or compliance concerns promptly.

Previous experience in a decontamination, healthcare, dental, or sterile services environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
