Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts with detailed analysis and commentary.
- Maintain the company's asset register and depreciation postings.
- Lead on the production of statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP.
- Manage the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and supporting sub-ledgers.
- Maintain and develop internal financial controls and procedures.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support cash flow management and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting deadlines.
- Provide financial insights and support to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Liaise with tax advisors and HMRC where required.
- Support colleagues with ad-hoc work.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of the business. This is a key role responsible for the preparation of management accounts, statutory reporting, and ensuring robust financial controls are in place. Tax knowledge is advantageous but not essential.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a financial controller or senior finance role.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting.
- Proficiency in preparing and interpreting management accounts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Experience in working with external auditors.
- Tax experience or understanding is beneficial but not essential.
- FMCG: 2 years (required).
