Tods is looking for practical, mechanically minded individuals to join our Fitting Department in a varied workshop-based role. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and working on a wide range of tasks, this could be an excellent opportunity. Our environment is similar to a dockyard fitting workshop, where no two days are the same and teamwork is essential. While previous experience is an advantage, many specialist skills can be taught in-house. We welcome applicants with a solid mechanical background who are eager to learn, develop new skills, and contribute to a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out general mechanical fitting and workshop activities
  • Using a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Reading engineering drawings and carrying out accurate measuring and marking out
  • Performing drilling and tapping operations using hand drills, mag drills, and workshop equipment
  • Assisting with manual handling, lifting, and slinging operations (training provided where required)
  • Working with fibreglass materials, including sanding, trimming, and routing (full training available)
  • Adjusting scaffolding and boarding work areas when necessary
  • Supporting a range of workshop and production activities as required

About You

You will ideally have:

  • A mechanical or engineering background, or relevant hands-on workshop experience
  • Confidence using common tools and equipment
  • The ability to interpret drawings and measure accurately
  • A practical, proactive approach to work
  • A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to varying tasks
  • Experience with lifting operations or slinging (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude
