Tods Technology are looking to recruit for a Robotic CNC Machinist for our Manufacturing HQ, based on Portland, Dorset. The role is newly created to support our Additive Manufacturing Department, to fully support our business growth and roadmap.

Position Summary: You will be responsible for generating AM slicing programs from 3D CAD models. The role involves advanced (Large Format Additive Manufacturing) robotics for machining and additive manufacturing. Working closely with manufacturing engineers, project managers, and design engineers to deliver patterns, moulds and general tooling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing parts, prototypes, and products using 3D printing technologies such as FDM, resin, and metal printing.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to validate designs, optimize print processes, and ensure functional prototypes.
  • Reading and developing engineering models, maintaining accurate configuration control documentation of print jobs, performing maintenance on printers, and iterating designs based on testing feedback.
  • Develop tooling solutions ready for Additive manufacture processes to minimize material and time to produce tools.
  • Write CAPEXs for new equipment, tooling and consumables.
  • Setting and Running the LFAM.
  • Work with KUKAs (or equivalent) 6-axis articulated robots using AI-Build (OEM training will be provided).
  • Set up and maintain equipment to a very high standard of positional accuracy.
  • Configure and operate robots with additional integrated axes such as rails, positioners, and rotary tables.
  • Support Production and Quality Assurance in resolving production challenges and providing solutions to ensure product conformance.
  • Use Lean Principles to improve the product, process flow, build cycle and waste reduction.
  • Retain competencies and expand knowledge through online and specific training courses.
  • Undertake other development and manufacturing support tasks as directed by your line manager.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in electrical & mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering/manufacturing experience (Graduates welcome to apply).
  • Experience of programming AM Slicing software.
  • Computer literate, Windows based, practical use of CAD.
  • Ability to develop successful working relationships, work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving ability applied through a practical approach.
  • Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mind-set.
  • A good team player with a flexible attitude to workload.
