Role Description


The Deputy Manager role at Toddletown Day Nursery is a full-time, on-site position located in Farnham. The role involves supporting the Nursery Manager in the daily operation of the setting, including overseeing room activities, staff deployment, and adherence to policies and procedures. The Deputy Manager will help plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curricula, ensuring that children’s learning and development needs are met in line with regulatory frameworks. Day-to-day tasks include supervising and mentoring team members, maintaining accurate records, managing health and safety, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and external agencies. The role also includes contributing to inspections, quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring a warm, inclusive, and engaging environment for all children.


Qualifications



  • Relevant childcare qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years / Childcare) and strong knowledge of early years frameworks and regulations.

  • Experience in a nursery or early years setting, including team leadership, staff supervision, and supporting day-to-day operations.

  • Skills in planning and delivering educational activities, observing and recording children’s progress, and promoting safeguarding and child well-being.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with children, families, colleagues, and external professionals.

  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate documentation, and support compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Commitment to equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice, with a positive, collaborative approach to working in a team environment.

  • First aid, safeguarding, and health and safety training (or willingness to obtain), and basic IT skills for administrative and reporting tasks.
