Social network you want to login/join with: Our client, a multidisciplinary Marine and Environmental Surveying company based in Bridgend, South Wales, is seeking a Senior Hydrographic Surveyor to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position , working Monday to Friday 9:00-17:30 . This role is office-based with 80-120 days offshore . Currently, it involves 3 weeks on-call, 3 weeks office-based, undertaking 80-120 field days a year. You must live or be willing to relocate to a commutable distance of the office in Bridgend, South Wales. As the Senior Hydrographic Surveyor, your responsibilities will include mobilising and calibrating survey equipment, data acquisition, processing, and QA/QC of data. Relevant degree with at least 4 years of industry experience in a similar role. Experience in Hydrographic and Geophysical surveys in a leading role. Knowledge of industry software: QINSy, PDS2000, POSPac MMS, Trimble Business Centre, Caris HIPS and SIPS, Geosoft Oasis Montaj, AutoCAD, QGIS. Experience with Multibeam data processing, GNSS, Geophysical, UXO data processing, tidal and acoustic theory, geodesy. Geophysical survey background is an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Current or developing commercially endorsed RYA/MCA Powerboat Advanced qualification. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Fluent in English, both oral and written. Problem-solving skills, initiative, and flexibility. Full Clean Driving License. As a senior team member, your role will involve client liaison, Party Chief activities, survey execution, and mentoring less experienced surveyors. You will develop leadership skills to optimise vessel and crew efficiency and demonstrate a flexible, proactive work approach, essential in the nearshore survey market. Job brief: Mobilisation and demobilisation of survey equipment, including calibration and verification. Equipment interfacing and tune-up onboard. Survey equipment maintenance. Work mainly from UK ports for several weeks at a time. Participate in the company field rota: 3 weeks on-call, 3 weeks office-based, with 80-120 field days annually. Data processing and reporting, both in-office and in-field. Liaise with clients to understand project specifications. Support Principal Surveyors and Project Managers to deliver projects per client requirements. Ensure all work complies with company IMS systems. Mentor and train less experienced surveyors.
