Operations Technician

Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, is currently seeking multiple Operations Technicians to join their multi-skilled team located in Wytch Farm, Dorset.

This is a full-time, 12-month contract opportunity with a regular shift pattern: 7 x 12-hour days, 3 days off, 7 x 12-hour nights, 18 days off. There will be 15 contracted shifts during the year, outside the rotated pattern.

This critical role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the production facility in an environmentally sensitive area.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Completed a time-served trade apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry.
  • Strong technical background qualified to a minimum of HNC or equivalent.
  • Knowledge/skills of SIRP (Safe Isolation and Re-instatement of Plant).
  • Experience with PTW (Permit to Work) systems.
  • Process Safety experience.
  • Operational Risk Assessment (ORA) experience.

Key Responsibilities Include:

HSE Performance

  • Demonstrate good safety behaviours, stop unsafe acts, and participate in incident investigations.
  • Implement relevant policies and procedures, and promote safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in incident root cause analysis.

Production and Technical Integrity Performance

  • Perform maintenance and operations routines, raise jobs in Maximo, and manage defects.
  • Investigate production upsets and supervise vendor contractors.
  • Prepare Work Control and Isolation Certificates for vendor mobilisations.
  • Ensure safe plant preparation and return to service, including hydrocarbon freeing.
  • Record key performance parameters and ensure work scope completion.
  • Manage isolations and permits as Performing and Isolating Authority.
  • Update procedures and P&ID drawings, participate in shift handovers, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Monitor well pressures, report anomalies, and coordinate well operations.

Environmental

  • Identify and manage environmental hazards in risk assessments.
  • Maintain controls of environmental aspects as per EMS.
  • Respond to environmental incidents and maintain competence in environmental responsibilities.

Emergency Response

  • Participate in emergency response teams and exercises as per the Emergency Response Plan.

Safety & Environmentally Critical Tasks

Operate safety-critical systems, conduct site checks, and report issues. Act as Performing and Isolating Authority within permit systems, and develop maintenance and operational procedures.
