Our client, a leading procurement company based on the outskirts of Norwich, is currently seeking a Financial Controller to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position, based in Norwich working Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Control & Reporting
    • Oversee the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
    • Lead the preparation of management accounts, statutory accounts, and board reports.
    • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with IFRS/GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate and manage external audits, acting as the key point of contact.
    • Oversee financial reporting, risk management, cashflow control, and compliance.
  • Risk Management & Credit Control
    • Develop and enforce risk assessment frameworks for new customer onboarding.
    • Oversee credit control & collections, minimizing bad debt exposure.
    • Work collaboratively with the Membership team and Business Development Managers to develop a wider understanding of risk to the co-operative.
  • Financial Planning & Strategy
    • Partner with the business to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management
    • Ensure liquidity management and optimal cash flow forecasting.
    • Oversee banking relationships and treasury operations.
  • Leadership & Process Improvement
    • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team (accounting and credit control).
    • Drive automation and finance technology improvements.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring efficiency in financial processes.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance team ensuring that all aspects of financial and management accounting are delivered.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Strong IT and data presentation/analytical skills, including Microsoft Office – especially Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, together with a ‘can-do’ attitude in resolving issues.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Strong leadership skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Experience in a fast-paced £100m+ turnover business.
  • Hands-on experience of NetSuite - desirable.
  • Track record in risk management and credit control - desirable.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience in a senior finance role.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success.
  • Team-oriented, able to establish rapport and become part of an engaging team.
  • Views problems as challenges that we work together to resolve.

Benefits:

  • Salary: Circa £60,000 per annum
  • 8% employer pension contribution.
  • 26 days holiday per annum, plus bank holidays. This rises with each year of service by an additional day, up to 7 extra days.
