Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, are currently seeking a Contracts Specialist to join their team in Norwich. The successful candidate will provide procurement and commercial advice to contract users ensuring the company maximises the benefits from the services provided by its suppliers. This is initially a 24-month contract, working Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of supply chain or contract management process and procedures
  • Qualified to degree level or able to demonstrate experience in a similar related role
  • A business focus and commercial mindset
  • Experience in negotiating commercials and terms
  • Understanding and application of key contract principles
  • Proficient IT User of Microsoft Word/Excel etc
  • Familiarity with SAP or other P2P system
  • A flexible team worker able to work effectively in a dynamic environment alongside different disciplines
  • Delivery driven and able to work with a high degree of self-initiative and integrity
  • Confident and able to interact with Management with ease
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral, to all stakeholder levels both internal and external
  • A contributor to continual improvement

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage contract change requests and amendments maintaining accurate contract records and documentation
  • Advise and support contract users on the fundamental principles and processes to adopt when developing and implementing contracting strategies
  • Draft and manage requests for information, requests for proposal, invitations to tender and contract documents in a clear, detailed proactive manner, gathering input and liaising with key stakeholders at all stages to maximise the benefit for the Company whilst also minimising claims and disputes
  • Complete proposal evaluations ensuring that analysis of proposals are carried out consistently and fairly
  • Negotiate the best possible commercial position and terms with identified suppliers
  • Prepare recommendations to management for award and execution of a variety of contracts
  • Support business-wide to resolve commercial and contractual issues with suppliers including drafting, review and negotiation of terms
  • Draft and issue contract letters and notices
  • Working closely with the business at all levels to ensure wider commercial objectives are achieved
  • Assist the Finance Department with cost control, providing guidance on contract application and compliance
  • Maintain a designated portfolio of contracts, acting as the nominated commercial representative, and providing support to the contract users throughout the contract lifecycle
