Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking a Production Manager to join their team, working alongside the Workshop Manager. This is a full time permanent position, based in Norwich.
Hours: Basic hours 8:00am - 17:00pm Mon. Due to seasonal variations within the business these hours are regularly extended in the Winter, or may be reduced in the Summer. Must be able to spend one or two nights away per month if required.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
- Relevant manufacturing/engineering qualification (electrical knowledge is an advantage).
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques (Six Sigma knowledge is an advantage).
- Experience in production team management.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning tools.
- Understanding and experience of manufacturing processes and technical information.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to present data effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Understanding and experience of Health and Safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure production schedules are followed to meet company objectives.
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to optimize efficiency.
- Design, prove, implement, and maintain production systems to deliver products on time and meet quality requirements in line with customer specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability using lean techniques and value engineering.
- Analyse downtime, identify trends, and develop solutions for optimum utilisation and efficiency.
- Identify any production issues and resolve via root cause analysis.
- Ensure KPIs are met, including management and reporting.
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks within the facility.
- Introduce and deliver Shop floor Capture to enhance the ability of monitoring data.
- Co-manage and lead the team to ensure adequate staffing levels and effective management of holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
- Review, implement, and update company records (e.g., training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments).
- Lead the team in new product and process introductions.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and certifications (such as ISO9001, ISO14001), driving the quality improvement processes.
- Facilitate regular audits of production processes and quality control checks, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Take ownership for team cohesion.
- Monitor and report on cost efficiency, identifying opportunities to reduce waste, energy consumption, and other operational costs.
- Work closely with finance and procurement teams to manage material budgets and optimize stock control.
- Collaborate with the Operations Director to investigate and implement new technologies, equipment, or production methods that improve efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance quality.
