Our client, a leading engineering and manufacturing company based in Wymondham, are currently seeking a Composite Production Operative/Carbon Fibre De-Moulding Operative. You will be responsible for carefully extracting cured composite parts from manufacturing moulds. The role requires high attention to detail along with a careful and methodical approach. This is a full time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 4:00pm-12:30am. Our client is ideally looking for somebody driven to progress within the composites industry, as there will be plenty of development opportunity.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Attention to detail with exacting standards
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination to ensure standards are maintained
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling delicate, high-value parts, along with a proficiency with basic hand tools, drills and scraper blades etc.
  • Previous background in laminating, composites manufacturing or hands-on assembly (desirable)
  • Composites or engineering background with a desire to progress into the composites industry (desirable)

Key Duties:

  • Part Extraction – Extract cured carbon fibre components safely from various types of tooling
  • Tool Care – Use specific release wedges, slide hammers, and air tools without scratching moulds
  • New Moulds – Prepare carbon mould surface prior to seal and release process
  • Mould Preparation – Clean, scrap and polish moulds after extraction to remove residual resin
  • Chemical Application – Apply chemical release agents, sealers and waxes to prepared tooling
  • Part Finishing – Release, breather and vacuum bag parts from day shift ready for evening cure
  • Quality Control – Inspect de-moulded components visually for defects, voids or surface imperfections
  • Documentation – Log completed batches and report any damaged tooling to Supervisors
  • Housekeeping – Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace in line with operating standards
