Our client, a successful manufacturing business, is currently seeking a Mechanical Assembly Operative to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position, working in Norwich.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Overtime is also available.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Engineering bias and a practical nature and work ethic.
- Solid experience using hand tools.
- High organisation skills and the ability to work under high pressure during busy periods.
- Reliable commuting ability to the Norwich office.
- A flexible approach to working hours and the ability to work extended hours when required.
- A clean or near clean driving license (preferable).
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, methods, and terminology.
- Strong understanding of the principles of engineering and good working practices.
- Ability to make basic calculations around material dimensions and specifications without the use of a calculator.
- Adaptability, reliability, tolerance, and determination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with or complete the construction, production, and assembly of cases and affiliated products using a variety of hand tools or power tools.
- Fabricate and assemble sub-assemblies with sufficient lead time to enable others to complete more complex products as scheduled.
- Liaise with the Workshop Manager to implement work schedules to ensure the timely completion of all sales orders.
- Ensure a high standard of quality production with continuous improvement, reporting any problems or potential problems to the Workshop Manager.
- Train to carry out the maximum range of tasks within the workshop department.
- Comply with all aspects of the Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure that all defined personal protection equipment is utilised within the workshop or for the safe use of hand-held tools.
- Support and assist the Workshop Manager and other Machine operators/Finishers.
- Liaise closely with other production functions to resolve assembly queries.
