A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Mill Operative working for a well-established and prestigious company based in Shipdham, Norfolk. This is a full-time position, on an initially temporary basis with the view of going permanent after 12 weeks. The working hours are Monday to Friday 06:00 to 16:30 (weekend working expected during busy periods).
Candidate Requirements
- Physical Fitness: The role involves heavy lifting, manual handling, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Licences: A valid Counterbalance or Reach Forklift (FLT) licence is required; an HGV licence is preferred, or heavy machinery experience will be provided.
- Work Ethic: A flexible, enthusiastic, reliable, helpful and organized individual with excellent communication skills. Punctuality and the ability to work independently or as part of a wider operations team are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and off-loading coupling and uncoupling trailers quickly, efficiently and safely, in accordance with the Company’s safe systems of work.
- Conducting pre-shift checks on the HGVs, trailers & FLT prior to use and completing the relevant documentation.
- Ensuring goods are checked, accounted for and loaded or unloaded correctly.
- Ensuring that the storing of raw materials and packaging is secure and to a satisfactory standard with no torn labels, unsealed wrapping and broken pallets.
- Implementing effective waste management practices, ensuring waste control and segregation in compliance with Company procedures.
- Keeping the site clean, tidy, and hazard-free, which involves sorting waste/recycling and sweeping external areas.
- Ensuring a safe, clean, and tidy working environment, adhering to hygiene standards, procedures and the clean as you go policy.
- Strictly adhering to site safety guidelines, reporting damage, and safely operating equipment like Lorries or forklifts (FLT).
- Reporting any HSE issues to the Production Manager.
- Occasionally assisting drivers or the public with inquiries and loading/unloading their vehicles.
- Any other duties as deemed reasonable by your line manager.
