Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking a CAD Designer to join their team. This is a full-time role, based in Norwich, working 9:00am – 6:00pm Mon – Fri. Due to seasonal variations these hours can be variable.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Able to commute reliably to office base.
- Must have clean or near clean driving license.
- Must have a good knowledge of 3D CAD and a working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
- Understands the principles of design, engineering and showcasing portfolios.
- Engineering skills preferred but not essential.
- Must be adept in use of CAD and other 3D software packages.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages - particularly Excel, Word, Internet and email.
- Able to understand basic business finance concepts and calculations.
- Must be a competent writer of business emails, quotations and proposals.
- Well presented with an understanding of good business practices and ethics.
- Sufficiently mobile and flexible to occasionally travel to customers both within and outside the UK when required.
- Able to spend one or two nights away per month if required.
- Must have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work extended hours on occasions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Produce custom product designs for quotation support and product manufacture using 2D and 3D AutoCAD in accordance with agreed design principles and procedures.
- Produce works orders to communicate design and component specification to production functions and external suppliers.
- Product design and works orders must be undertaken in accordance with agreed design principles and procedures defined in company manual.
- Working with Customers: To carry out direct sales activities from incoming customer enquiries.
- To liaise directly with customers and suppliers to establish requirements, develop design solutions and specifications including occasional off-site visits to assess requirements at first hand.
- To raise, communicate and negotiate product quotations through use of software packages in line with procedures outlined in the company handbook and approval of senior staff.
- To maintain customer and supplier enquiry records and ensure an excellent level of customer service is offered at all times.
- Liaise closely with production functions to resolve design queries and ensure finished products meet specified standards of design and quality.
- Follow Health and Safety procedures at all times as detailed in the Company Handbook.
To design custom product solutions with CAD software in both 2D and 3D formats for production in on-site manufacturing facility. 3D Images will be produced to support proposals to customers and assist in development of new product ranges.
