Location: Bristol (Onsite). Term: 18 months fixed term contract.

Position Summary

Bio-Techne is a world-leading developer and manufacturer of high-quality biological reagents and is seeking an Analytical Development Research Associate (RA) to join their GMP Analytical Development Team in Bristol. An Analytical Development RA will be able to conduct method development and validation activities and provide testing required by other teams for product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a role model when it comes to Health and Safety by leading by example and promoting safe working practices by following the company’s health and safety documentation and abiding by COSHH regulations and maintaining a high level of tidiness.
  • Develop robust methods for a variety of analytical equipment and perform method validation where required.
  • Conduct troubleshooting of chromatography analysis.
  • Conduct initial development of varied methodology to enable QC testing of products, with support on more complex development needs.
  • Provide analytical testing in a variety of methods for other departments to enable product development activities.
  • Supports testing required for method validation activities (if applicable).
  • Demonstrates an ability to work independently on tasks assigned.
  • Follows priorities defined by supervisor and manages time across the tasks assigned.
  • Adheres to all documented procedures relating to the work carried out.
  • Revises and assists in the preparation of documentation such as SOPs, test methods and specifications as required.
  • Presents work within the QC department as needed.
  • Engages appropriately with QMS activities such as incidents and change management where they relate to work conducted with some guidance.
  • Proposes process improvements and highlights areas for improvement.
  • Builds relationships with peers within the department and other departments.
  • Provides support to others in the team as needed.
  • Provides support to other activities in the department as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree level in chemistry or related science.
  • Ideally 3+ years of HPLC method development (experience in a GMP environment would be advantageous).
  • Experience of method validation desired.
  • Detailed knowledge of analytical chemistry.
  • High level of personal and independent productivity.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical ability and analytical data interpretation skills.
  • Collaborative and teamwork skills.
  • IT skills and competency with Microsoft software packages.
  • Safe and responsible working manner in laboratory areas.
