We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead our small kitchen team in a fast paced, high volume café kitchen serving All Day Breakfast, Gourmet Burgers, Grilled Sandwiches and Mediterranean Salads.

At present we open 9-5pm everyday serving our breakfast and grill menu. We are extending our opening times until 9pm where we will keep our grill menu running alongside our new pizza kitchen which will be serving fresh, Neapolitan pizzas Wednesday to Sunday from 5-9pm. We have a pizza chef in place to start who will be solely running the pizza kitchen and be responsible for dough production and prep. However, a background in pizza production and/or a keenness and willingness to learn to enable to cover the pizza offer would be highly advantageous.

In the role of Cafe Kitchen Manager we are looking for a hard working, highly organised, fully prepared and impeccably clean working chef with the skills and experience to maintain our strong standards but also work to improve our food offer and take standards to the next level.

MUST HAVE STRONG BREAKFAST / BRUNCH EXPERIENCE

We require leadership in our kitchen which is where you come in. The role requires:

  • Menu: Maintain our standards with our present menu but to work with the owner to streamline our offer to enable us to perform better during peak business.
  • Menu planning: To be aware of current food trends and offers to increase the standards and reputation of our food offer.
  • Staff leadership: We really need a strong leader. Someone who is organised and highly prepared and ready to train and lead the team through our busy service.
  • Cleaning: We want to offer the cleanest most organised kitchen possible. If you are not cooking, you are cleaning.
  • Organisation and preparation: Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Simple. We are always striving to do our best today but to be even better tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Create and update menus.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with management to plan and execute special events or unusually busy periods.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in a restaurant kitchen environment.
  • Proficient in all aspects of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu planning.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Qualifications in hospitality or culinary arts are desirable but not essential.

Salary: We have set a starting rate of £15.50 an hour. However, this can be negotiated or salaried for the right person after a period of time. It is a starting figure; if we can find the right person to quickly set standards then help us push the business forward and increase revenue then this can increase if the business can afford to do so.

This is a hands-on position, it’s hard work and not for the faint hearted. However, with the right leadership, planning and organisation in place we are hoping to create an efficient and easier to maintain kitchen and help improve the quality of the working environment to where it should be.

Start Date: When we have the right person.

Working days: Wednesday to Sunday.

Hours per week: Shifts between the hours of 9am to 5pm.

Holidays: 28 days per annum.

Pay: The 28th of each month.

Please apply with an up to date CV and please give a cover letter/brief input about why you’re the right person for the job. We look forward to you coming on board.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent.

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week.

Work Location: In person.
