Join our Research and Development team and contribute to the full product development lifecycle for precision scientific electronic equipment.

About The Role

Possessing a drive and passion for technology advancement and a thirst for finding new ways to solve complex technology problems, you will collaborate with our project and product managers to define agreed product specifications and architecture, and then undertake a rigorous design, development, and testing process. The result will be high-quality end products that meet internal and regulatory standards.

This Role Will Include:

  • Developing mixed signal circuits for modern devices with multiple functions and low power/voltage.
  • Design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques, including support to EMC test houses and customer installations.
  • Generation of technical documentation such as system wiring diagrams/tables, system and sub-system specifications, test protocols, and reports.
  • Liaising with software teams to design and test electronics for embedded software, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, EMC, and ease of manufacture.
  • ADC/DAC devices and techniques.
  • Analogue design including op-amps, transistor-level design, control loops, and low noise techniques.
  • Collaborating with other product design disciplines, such as mechanical, production, and procurement to ensure clean and successful handover of projects into production.
  • Reviewing non-conformities, undertaking fault finding, and resolving related technical production issues.
  • Adhering to company plans, procedures, and product performance goals.
  • Ensuring that tasks are delivered on time and in full.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology fundamentals, show extreme flexibility, and work on several projects and priorities at once.
  • Development of system electronics with particular focus on fulfilling requirements of relevant safety standards, and product certification support; EMC, Safety, CE, UKCA etc.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining rigs for testing PCB assemblies and other production items.

About You

You hold a 1st class BEng or MEng degree in Electronic Engineering (or possibly Applied Physics, Computer Science, or other closely related subject with relevant industrial experience). You have 2-3 years of experience in electronics, embedded system design, and embedded software integration. You can demonstrate wide ranging electronics design skills covering one or more of: Digital Design, Analogue electronics design, embedded firmware, PCB layout. Your experience includes designing and developing digital/analogue circuits, motor drive, and sensors integration. You have knowledge of the interface protocols between software and hardware. You can apply schematic capture tools and PCB design & manufacturing techniques. You understand control loop systems such as: Open Loop, PID, Feedforward Control, and appreciation of Control Engineering as a discipline. You have used product safety approval (EMC, ESD, LVD, CE, UKCA) and quality management systems. You have experience with advanced electronics test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, analysers, and function generators. You have experience with engineering release and change control. You are adaptable and resourceful with an aptitude for problem solving and a drive for self-improvement.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, with the ability to work on several concurrent tasks with different deadlines at the same time and re-prioritise as new tasks come in with minimal need for supervision. As a small and fast-growing company, we are looking for someone who can work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment, but the successful candidate must also be willing to work under their own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems when required.
