We are searching for a full-time Senior or Principal Acoustic Consultant to support the growth of our Transmission and Distribution offering within our large Acoustics Team. Applicants should ideally come from an academic background in either science or engineering and have a proven track record of working on Transmission and Distribution projects. Whilst the role will primarily involve working on projects for substations, convertor stations, underground cables and overhead lines, there will also be an opportunity to work on assessments for wind farms, BESS, solar developments and other generation projects. The position will be within the Environmental & Engineering team who assist developers in taking energy projects from conceptual ideas to buildable assets.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data analysis, noise propagation modelling, assessment and reporting;
- Production of technical noise assessment reports to a high standard;
- Fee proposal writing and budgetary preparation;
- Business Development activities such as attending conferences, bidding for work and maintaining existing client relationships;
- Project management and budget tracking/monitoring.
REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience of undertaking noise impact assessments for electricity Transmission and Distribution projects in the UK or Ireland;
- Interest in energy and the environment;
- Excellent understanding of relevant noise assessment standards in the UK and Ireland;
- A relevant science or engineering related degree;
- Strong general numeric and mathematical skills;
- Full or Associate membership of the Institute of Acoustics;
- Full UK/Irish Driving Licence;
- Proactive team player;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills covering inter-team communication as well as liaising with external stakeholders such as clients, local planning authorities and members of the public;
- Proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail;
- An ability to understand and explain abstract acoustical concepts in a clear way to both technical and non-technical audiences;
- There may be a requirement for travel to undertake site work, which may require some nights away from home;
- Experience of working in a consultancy environment and client facing activities;
- Coding skills would be beneficial;
- Experience of using CadnaA noise propagation modelling software;
- IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control;
- Be proactive within the acoustics community, for example through presenting at conferences or contributing to best practice through sitting on working groups etc.
