Job Description:

Some careers open more doors than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Our Risk and Compliance function has a critical role to play in supporting, challenging and advising across all areas of the business through establishing policy, monitoring profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risk and compliance. We focus on creating an environment that encourages our people to speak up and do the right thing, as well as protecting our customers, the organisation and the integrity of the financial markets in which we operate. Already an industry-leader in many respects, we want to continue setting standards and evolving to respond to strategic changes.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the Group Risk, Wholesale Credit Portfolio Management team in the role of Portfolio Manager.

As the Wholesale Credit Portfolio Manager, your primary focus will be the Industries within the Wholesale Portfolio. This means analysing and monitoring the credit health of the portfolio with an industry lens, while working within the matrix across multiple stakeholders (Regions and Lines of Business). You will be driving a range of projects primarily around management of industry risk, towards implementation, including all necessary collaboration.

The main responsibilities in this role are:

  1. Effectively monitor the portfolio, primarily with an industry lens, and drive the delivery of global sector reviews, spotlight reviews and lending guidelines.
  2. Engage the Industry Risk Management network both periodically and ad-hoc to tap into their subject matter expertise.
  3. Contribute to Industry Appetite Framework related initiatives (governance, new metrics, review and challenge of first line and act as SME at working groups).
  4. The jobholder will be required to be in regular contact with Senior Executive Management (including GCCCO and Regional Heads of WCRM) and will ultimately be responsible for his/her actions.
  5. Leverage the network to bring appropriate depth of experience to bear on complex decisions.
  6. Engage effectively with others across the WCRM function to ensure the output is insightful, professional, and fit for purpose.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  1. Solid knowledge of credit that would allow the individual to interpret trends, drivers and performance in industries or any given portfolio and engage with SMEs.
  2. Proven ability to problem-solve, lead and deliver complex initiatives with imperfect information.
  3. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  4. Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders by understanding and sharing vision, challenges, and potential solutions and by working collaboratively.
  5. Influencing skills with the ability to challenge the status quo and suggest viable alternative approaches.

This role is based in London with hybrid working.
