We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Water Design Manager to join our team! This is a great opportunity for someone with significant expertise in water infrastructure design and asset information management, ready to take on a challenging role within our successful and growing NAV business.
As a key team member, you will lead the end-to-end design process for water infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. What will you be doing?
As the Water Design Manager, you will oversee all aspects of water infrastructure design, integrating asset information into systems and acting as a subject matter expert. Key responsibilities include:
- Water Infrastructure Design : Deliver detailed designs to meet industry and AWIN standards while managing updates to the design manual.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Build strong relationships with technical teams, developers, and SLPs, and liaise with clients to define project scopes.
- Hydraulic Modelling : Manage hydraulic modelling software to validate designs and resolve quality issues.
- Material and Soil Analysis : Assess soil reports and specify appropriate pipe materials.
- Fire Services Coordination : Oversee fire hydrant design, installation, and maintenance.
- Technical Documentation : Produce engineering reviews and reports for water and wastewater designs.
- Mapping and Data Integration : Create site boundary maps in ArcGIS and integrate design and as-built data into systems.
- Sustainability : Advise on sustainable design practices and water efficiency solutions.
- SHEQ Compliance : Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards, driving continuous improvement.
- Site Visits and Inspections : Conduct site visits to manage non-compliance issues.
- Training : Train team members on water infrastructure design processes.
What are we looking for?
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to deliver high-quality designs and manage complex processes.
- Experience in a similar design role within the water industry.
- Competence in CAD, hydraulic modelling software, and ArcGIS (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Experience writing technical reports and presenting to stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build lasting client relationships.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Registration as an Incorporated Engineer (or higher) with a professional institution (e.g., CIWEM, ICE, IWO).
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
