Sovereign Risk Insurance, a Chubb Bermuda company specialising in political risk insurance, is seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate with a strong legal and international finance background to lead our growing underwriting team in London.

This role involves actively participating in marketing efforts, representing Sovereign at high-level meetings and conferences, and providing legal support to colleagues in London and Bermuda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of underwriters in London.
  • Undertake underwriting duties for political risk and non-payment insurance.
  • Participate in marketing efforts, including international travel.
  • Manage all Know Your Customer requests from Sovereign clients.
  • Oversee legal and regulatory projects and provide transactional legal support to underwriters.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid law qualification (English Law preferred).
  • Experience in a law firm, commercial bank, or similar financial services company.
  • Knowledge of international investment law.
  • Expertise in structured trade, export, project finance, and third-party investor deals.
  • Understanding of infrastructure investments in emerging markets.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating political risk and non-payment insurance contracts.
  • Understanding of cross-border banking practices.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dynamic, proactive personality.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language (French, Spanish, or German) is a bonus.
