Sovereign Risk Insurance, a Chubb Bermuda company specialising in political risk insurance, is seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate with a strong legal and international finance background to lead our growing underwriting team in London.
This role involves actively participating in marketing efforts, representing Sovereign at high-level meetings and conferences, and providing legal support to colleagues in London and Bermuda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of underwriters in London.
- Undertake underwriting duties for political risk and non-payment insurance.
- Participate in marketing efforts, including international travel.
- Manage all Know Your Customer requests from Sovereign clients.
- Oversee legal and regulatory projects and provide transactional legal support to underwriters.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid law qualification (English Law preferred).
- Experience in a law firm, commercial bank, or similar financial services company.
- Knowledge of international investment law.
- Expertise in structured trade, export, project finance, and third-party investor deals.
- Understanding of infrastructure investments in emerging markets.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating political risk and non-payment insurance contracts.
- Understanding of cross-border banking practices.
- Strong communication skills.
- Dynamic, proactive personality.
- Management experience preferred.
- Proficiency in a foreign language (French, Spanish, or German) is a bonus.
