We are looking to recruit a Senior Tax Manager to work within our busy private client team. Our US/UK Cross Border team acts for a wide range of international high net worth individuals resident in the UK, as well as family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, and high-profile professional partnerships. We aim to be trusted advisers to our clients and deliver a broad range of tax advisory services, including tax return compliance, residence and domicile advice, transaction and reorganisation advice, wealth optimisation, and estate and succession tax advice. Experience working with non-domiciled individuals is essential due to our international client base.

The role involves compliance and advisory work, collaborating with Directors and team members to assess complex situations, provide advice, and form technical opinions. US/UK Cross Border is part of EY Private, with opportunities for secondments within the firm. There are excellent prospects for promotion to Director and beyond.

The Opportunity

A Senior Tax Manager manages a portfolio of clients with complex US and/or UK tax affairs, ensuring excellent service and signing out most tax returns. They oversee staff, influence their development, and uphold EY’s core values. They are responsible for meeting billing expectations.

Duties

  • Manage allocated client list, ensuring high service standards
  • Plan and delegate work efficiently
  • Lead billing processes and meet deadlines
  • Work with Credit Control to ensure prompt payments
  • Conduct final reviews of work, minimizing risks and maintaining standards
  • Sign out completed tax returns
  • Have knowledge of estate, gift, IHT, and corporate tax to involve relevant experts
  • Develop management skills and support junior staff
  • Ensure compliance standards are met and client service is exceptional
  • Maintain confidentiality and exemplify EY values
  • Support team operations and assist colleagues as needed

Person Specification

Qualified member of ATT and qualified to practice US tax as an Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA. CTA qualification is desirable but not mandatory. Ability to work under pressure, well-organized, with at least 5 years of practice experience.

Proven Experience

Demonstrated tax experience at a similar level, providing high-quality client service, handling full tax requirements, billing, and managing junior staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Attention to detail, excellent communication, numerical skills, IT proficiency, relationship-building, persuasive and respectful client interaction, teamwork, and independence.
