In this newly created hire, the incoming Treasury Associate will assist the Treasury Manager in implementing the wider Cash Management and Treasury strategy.
Key Priorities
- Support the maintenance of a comprehensive knowledge base for Treasury operations, documenting best practices and specialized processes to assist the team with complex operational matters.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices in the custodian sector, assisting in the identification and analysis of process improvements.
- Contribute to improving the efficiency of Treasury operations by supporting process enhancements, automation initiatives, and technological advancements.
- Assist in daily cash positioning and short-term liquidity forecasting to ensure accurate financial management and timely settlement of client transactions.
- Help manage the client payment process, ensuring payments are processed accurately and on time, while maintaining controls to minimize errors and delays.
- Support the identification and reporting of operational and financial risks within Treasury functions, contributing to the development of strategies to mitigate such risks.
- Assist with managing collateral and liquidity management processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Participate in training activities, staying up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes to help maintain operational excellence.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with external parties such as clients, auditors, counterparties, and banking providers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- A basic understanding of Treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, and securities lending.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices in financial services.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately process financial transactions.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- A proactive and eager approach to learning and development within Treasury operations.
- Proficiency with relevant financial systems and software tools is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively within a team and with external stakeholders.
- A positive attitude towards problem-solving and process improvement.
- Relevant industry qualifications (e.g., CISI, IOC, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
