Transport Supervisor Job Description

Our Transport Supervisors play a vital role in the operation and customer journey by actively managing daily activities. You will report directly to our Depot Manager and oversee our warehouse team.

The Transport Supervisor ensures that our day-to-day warehouse operations run effectively, meet objectives, and achieve KPI targets. You will support warehouse functions, ensure smooth operations, and maintain full compliance with company standards.

Key Details

• Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6:00am-6:00pm (40.25 hours/week)
• Job Type: Full-time, permanent contract
• Location: Unit 1, Middleton Avenue, Strutherhill Ind. Estate, Larkhall, ML9 2UN

Responsibilities

• Ensure all vehicles leaving the depot are secure and comply with transport legislation
• Monitor delivery performance throughout the day
• Support training for new starters on Safe Systems of Work and Health & Safety
• Conduct daily/weekly team briefings on priorities and workload
• Supervise team tasks and allocate responsibilities
• Perform alcohol testing when required
• Carry out minor vehicle repairs and coordinate servicing
• Communicate effectively with drivers and handle queries professionally
• Manage transhipping and reload processes
• Complete in-house reports daily

Candidate Profile

• Knowledge of transport legislation and logistics operations
• Ability to build strong relationships under pressure
• Challenge vehicle issues or damages with drivers
• Make decisions independently in the absence of the Depot Manager
• React quickly to information and solve problems proactively
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
