About the role

As a Senior Technical Manager focusing on Automation and DevOps, you will play a crucial role in enhancing organizational and operational efficiency for our customers by leveraging your expertise. Your responsibilities include evaluating business processes, recommending technical solutions, and ensuring successful software development and implementation.

This is a customer-facing role, primarily focused on delivering automation and managing CI/CD pipelines for key customers in Northwestern Europe and beyond.

Responsibilities:

Your role involves bridging the gap between bespoke software development and IT operations. You will design, implement, and maintain automation systems to streamline development and operational processes, and collaborate with the wider Orange IT organization for complex initiatives that require centralized approaches. You will support capturing and documenting customer requirements to ensure successful centralized implementations.

Automation System Design:

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to design efficient automation systems.
  • Create and maintain tools that integrate development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Ensure designs are scalable and adaptable to different customers.
  • Coordinate with platform and IT teams to align solutions with corporate directives and product roadmaps.

Tool Implementation:

  • Implement and manage tools such as GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, and others.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve SDLC efficiency.

Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):

  • Ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines by working with developers, testers, and sysadmins.
  • Support development in multi-party environments, including customer environments.
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes, with focus on testing capabilities and HOTO processes.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

  • Apply IaC principles using tools like Terraform, collaborating with internal platform teams.
  • Improve provisioning, configuration, and scaling automation, estimating ROI for initiatives.

Monitoring and Alerting:

  • Set up monitoring tools and alert mechanisms.
  • Manage incident response and escalate alerts as needed.

Scripting and Automation:

  • Strong skills in Python, Perl, PowerShell for task automation.
  • Develop custom scripts for deployment, scaling, and maintenance.

Collaboration and Mentoring:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to promote DevOps best practices.
  • Mentor team members on automation techniques and tools.

About you

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Certifications such as ITIL, AWS, GCP, Cisco, or DevOps are advantageous.

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of networking technologies (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper).
  • Proficiency in Python and DevOps tools.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and architecture design.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and alert escalation.

System Administration:

  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration.
  • Scripting expertise in Shell scripting.

Automation Strategist:

  • Identify points for automation in SDLC.
  • Collaborate with automation architects.

Other:

  • Understanding of networking protocols, routing, switching, security.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Understanding of telecoms, IT infrastructure, cloud, security, and software platforms, including IaC.
  • Knowledge of enterprise tooling for ITSM, monitoring, and AIOps.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Passionate about customer service.
