The impact you will have in this role:
As a member of the European Tax team, the Tax Associate (EMEA) will primarily be responsible for preparing UK and European Indirect Tax compliance and supporting the EMEA Associate Director. Responsibilities include preparing and assisting with VAT, GST, and EC Sales List returns. The role may also involve supporting other taxes such as Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Tax, and Transfer Pricing, with experience in these areas being preferable but not required. The EMEA regional tax team is part of the wider NY-based Global tax team, covering over 40 entities across 17 countries in EMEA, the Americas, and APAC regions. This position involves significant interaction with the NY-based US/Global Tax team and the APAC regional tax team.
The role serves as the point of escalation for internal and external stakeholders, collaborating across different DTCC business lines, building rapport, and developing relationships with internal and external partners. A strong understanding of DTCC\’s business is essential, along with ownership and accountability for client support related to DTCC services.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurate and timely preparation and filing of UK and EU VAT returns, EC Sales List, annual returns, and other compliance requirements, including analyzing accounting GL details, preparing VAT return journals, quarterly reconciliation of VAT accounts, and ensuring prompt payment to tax authorities.
- Assist Accounts Receivable/Payable teams on VAT treatment of products and invoicing, providing VAT advice with support from the tax team, and escalating issues as needed.
- Work closely with the Global Tax Team, Financial Operations, Financial Reporting, and Accounting departments.
- Stay updated on VAT case law, legislative changes, and other developments affecting DTCC operations. Assist with research on various tax topics.
- Assist with corporate tax matters as required, including preparing tax returns, tax provisions, CbCR reporting, and R&D claims.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor\’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
Talents Needed For Success:
- Minimum of 3 years of VAT experience in Big 4 or industry (financial industry experience is preferable but not mandatory)
- Indicates ACCA, ACA, or CTA qualification as a tax specialist
- Strong VAT compliance skills
- Good knowledge of UK, EU, and non-EU VAT in compliance and advisory roles
- High proficiency in MS Excel
