Position Description
Reporting to the Talent Identification Director, the Talent Identification Manager oversees gender-specific Youth National Team scouting in a designated region. The role involves leading all aspects of the Talent ID plan, managing a network of scouts, and building relationships with clubs to gather information and facilitate player selection.
Primary Responsibilities
- Align with Soccer\’s mission, objectives, and policies
- Implement Soccer Talent Identification philosophies and processes
- Develop and execute annual scouting strategies
- Collaborate with various stakeholders including coaches, scouts, and network members
- Identify and monitor players from U-14 to U-23
- Lead Talent Identification Centers and regional camps
- Expand and manage the scouting network
- Utilize online platforms for reporting and monitoring
- Contribute to technical projects as needed
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Engage in personal development planning
Key Focus Areas
These include Youth National Team scouting, building and managing the scouting network, Talent Identification Centers and U-14 programs, and technology and analysis.
Youth National Teams Scouting
- Manage player identification, tracking, and weekly scouting assignments
- Maintain regional depth charts
- Create and review player reports
- Participate in camps and assessment processes
Building and Managing YNT Scouting Network
- Build a diverse and reliable network of scouts
- Assign scouts to events and monitor report quality
- Support outreach to under-served communities
Talent Identification Centers and U-14 Programs
- Create annual plans for Talent ID Centers
- Lead player and staff selection
Technology & Analysis
- Monitor players over time and create supporting video clips
- Use data and statistics for analysis
Other Requirements
- Proficiency with various scouting and analysis tools (P3, Sportscode, Wyscout, etc.)
- Participate in ongoing education
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience as a youth scout in a professional environment
- Soccer Talent Scout License or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Understanding of talent development processes and international standards
- Knowledge of domestic and international soccer pathways
- Proficiency with analysis and reporting tools
- Strong networking and communication skills
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
Desired Qualifications
- Soccer B or UEFA A License
- Professional playing experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
