Supplier Quality Engineer
Pay Rate: £27.02 per hour
Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, On-site
Contract Type: 12 Contract (Inside IR35)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join a leading global engineering and manufacturing organization based in Peterlee . In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all incoming supplier materials meet strict quality standards and compliance requirements. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in quality assurance, supplier audits, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assessments on incoming supplies, identifying potential defects or non-compliance.
- Develop and implement supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and defect rates; drive improvements through corrective action and guidance.
- Conduct audits of supplier facilities to ensure compliance with manufacturing and industry standards.
- Support suppliers in enhancing quality through process optimization and quality assurance planning.
- Generate detailed reports and analysis on supplier quality performance and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related discipline – or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience in supplier quality engineering within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear feedback and reports.
- Proficient in root cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and quality improvement techniques.
- Proven knowledge of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
- Familiarity with quality management systems , audit procedures, and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with process improvement , supplier evaluations , and manufacturing quality controls .
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
