Are you an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering tasks, including structural design and analysis? Do you possess a deep understanding of testing and validation best practices? Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the structural integrity of spacecraft under your direct supervision.
  2. Correctly interpret structural requirements from launch authorities and standards agencies.
  3. Prepare Finite Element Models (FEMs) and perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  4. Conduct structural optimization activities.
  5. Participate in peer review meetings and R&D activities.
  6. Support mechanical test campaigns.

Qualifications:

  1. Familiarity with interpreting requirements in launch vehicle user manuals, particularly inertial loading, vibration theory, shock, and acoustics.
  2. Familiarity with relevant engineering technical standards, especially ECSS and NASA.
  3. Strong understanding of methods for spacecraft level mechanical analysis and testing.
  4. Good understanding of the impact of design decisions at the spacecraft and mission level.
  5. Strong understanding of structural mechanics and vibration theory.
  6. Understanding of fastener mechanics and failure modes.
  7. Appreciation of novel structural materials, such as composites, and knowledge of appropriate analysis and testing methods.
  8. Appreciation of micro-vibration.
  9. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  10. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  11. Confident working in project delivery and bid teams.
  12. Ability to work closely with and interpret the outputs of analysis engineers (FEA) to understand design capabilities.
  13. Experience with a FEM package, preferably NASTRAN/FEMAP.
