Amazon is looking for a Sr. Program Manager with fuels/energy experience to lead our low-carbon fuel strategy in Europe. You will develop and implement a plan to diversify and decarbonize our vast transportation fleet's energy supply across air, rail, on-road, and maritime applications. We are looking for someone excited by sustainability and eager to drive low-carbon fuel opportunities that bring Amazon closer to achieving its Climate Pledge.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the low-carbon fuels industry (or conventional fuels with a strong understanding of decarbonization), a proven track record of leading successful sustainability projects, knowledge of the transportation and/or logistics industry, and familiarity with the policy landscape in Europe. Additionally, this candidate has the ability to think strategically, navigate complex and ambiguous challenges, manage multiple large-scale projects across different technologies and stakeholder groups, and collaborate and influence effectively. Experience with fuel suppliers and contracting/delivering energy solutions for transportation are also advantages.
Key job responsibilities
- Become a Sustainability Champion: Guide and advise business units on how to reduce emissions, plan their budgets, and secure resources for low-carbon fuels. Propose and evaluate opportunities to reduce energy capital and operating expenses across operations.
- Lead Cutting-Edge Projects: Develop and implement large-scale investments in low-carbon fuels, tackling the toughest emissions challenges in Amazon's operations.
- Shape the Future of Sustainability: Engage in public-private partnerships and industry coalitions to unlock innovative solutions in the low-carbon fuel industry.
- Bridge the Gap Between Policy and Business: Partner with Amazon's Public Policy teams to identify key policy opportunities in Europe and ensure alignment across teams on our sustainability goals.
- Share your Low-Carbon Fuel Expertise: Build your expertise in low-carbon fuels and their value chain. You'll be the go-to person for Amazon Operations in Europe, sharing your knowledge and mentoring others.
- Empower Your Region: Help business units become more proficient in the low-carbon fuel space. Develop and mentor subject matter experts (SMEs) across the company, fostering a culture of sustainability and accelerating Amazon’s decarbonization.
About the team
Worldwide Operations Sustainability (WWOS) sets the vision and strategy for sustainability within Amazon ops, including the overarching strategy and interim targets to achieve the Climate Pledge by 2040, and topics that extend beyond decarbonization. WWOS centrally coordinates strategy across Operations in all regions, particularly on topics that transcend business unit boundaries. The mission of WWOS is to accelerate outcomes for key decisions, identify the right stakeholders to make decisions, and provide central guidance for resource allocation to drive our path for the Climate Pledge.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience in program or project management
- Experience in fuels, transportation, fuels or carbon trading, retail operations, and/or supply chain management
